Hiking with snowshoes
During the winter season, we organize snowshoe hikes from Zillertal-reisen.com through beautiful nature reserves in the Zillertal. The snowshoe hikes take place under the guidance of a certified mountain guide (Dutch, German and English speaking). When booking a snowshoe hike, you can indicate what your level is, so that we can take this into account.
Snowshoeing is at least twice as hard as taking a regular hike. Walking in the snow already costs more energy, but we also go (slightly) uphill and downhill. A good basic condition is therefore required.
Also consider the following:
- Don't dress too warmly, but work with layers, so you can always take something off during exertion and put on clothes when it gets colder.
- Take plenty of fluids with you, in case of extreme cold, bottles of water or a camel bag can freeze.
- Bring a well-insulated canteen with warm water or tea.
- Bring plenty of food, including a bar of chocolate or a candy bar for the road.
- Put on waterproof and sturdy shoes. If you are in possession of gaiters, be sure to take them with you.
- Of course, don't forget to bring your camera/camera to capture the experiences of the day!
